Drew Unsworth, General Manager, Online Banking at Commonwealth Bank, takes an offbeat look at his five favourite things that CommBank have done online in the last few months.
I’m Drew Unsworth and I am too old to blog apparently.
I met Julie today; she’s the CommBank Blog Editor. It was a very depressing meeting. She looked at me and told me in her charming Scottish accent that I was not really the right demographic for a hipster tech blogger. There was a pause and I said… age? She nodded.
Hmmm… I told her I had been a banker for over thirty years, I was wearing long pants when the internet was in shorts and that I had kids at uni, so perhaps my life experience could cover any age shortcomings. To be fair Julie’s not Gen Y either, but I didn’t point that out. (Editor – thanks Drew!) She said if you can write a blog every three weeks you have a job. That seems fair. I spend far more time on Facebook than my kids, so challenge accepted.
I thought I would start by looking back on the past year and my five favourite things that Commbank did online recently.
1. Kaching
Probably the biggest thing in 2011 and I plan to write more about it in future blogs (I have a 3 weekly promise to keep, so stay tuned).
2. NetBank Labs
They are neat, but I love the Telstra top-ups online. They are really simple to use and have gone gangbusters in the first month. They’ve been so popular we’ve had to rush out lots more.
3. ATM passwords
We organised it so you could set up your ATM password in NetBank. We still get customers asking for this feature so we need to make it easier to find but watch this space!
4. Remember client ID
We added a, remember your client ID on login function… so simple but makes every login easier to use.
5. The new Commsec pages
OK it’s not NetBank but it’s really cool and easy to get to via NetBank.
I have the best job in the bank. I get to decide what goes into NetBank (and you thought it was our CEO Ian Narev). So why don’t you join in the conversation and let me know what you want.
Kacheers!
