The finalists
Since the launch of the first phase of the competition, in late April, businesses across the country have been vying to claim one of the five finalists spots. Over the past few weeks our expert judging panel have been deliberating over the large number of high quality entries we received and this week named the top five businesses that now go through to the public vote:
1. DVE Solutions (Mt Barker SA)
DVE Business Solutions (DVE) provides customised information management solutions predominantly to the education sector. Owner Diane Van Eck hopes to use a BetterBusiness Booster to: “expand our reach by establishing a new office in Sydney as well as employing new staff to help meet our client needs”.
2. Jodie McGregor Flowers (Annandale NSW)
Jodie McGregor Flowers is all about making ‘fabulous flowers for fabulous people’. Owner Stu White is determined to use a BetterBusiness Booster to: “become the best and most highly regarded florist in the world”.
3. Hooker Boats (Bungalow QLD)
Hooker Boats manufactures fiberglass boats for recreational and commercial fishing use. Recently they have suffered tremendously due to cheap imports coming into the country since the global financial crisis (GFC). Owner John Margetts is determined to use a BetterBusiness Booster to: “produce new boat models that are more competitive with the foreign boats and keep the money within Australia to boost the local economy”.
4. Bodyology Physical Performance Solutions (Notting Hill VIC)
Bodyology Physical Performance Solutions gives people the opportunity to access the most advanced testing and training methods for optimal health and wellbeing. Owner Andrew Garlick feels his business would benefit from a BetterBusiness Booster to help: “develop exposure and marketing plans to ensure we take the business to the next level properly”.
5. Bunbury Veterinary Clinic (Bunbury WA)
Bunbury Veterinary Clinic is a compassionate business with a primary focus on affordability for customers to ensure their pets are treated when they really need it. Owner Brandon Collins is looking to a BetterBusiness Booster to give him: “good advice to really help establish the business for the long term”.
