Our Community Grants make a big difference. With just one week left to apply for one in 2012, we thought we’d share a story from a past recipient to show the impact up that a grant can make in the community.
The Catherine Sullivan Centre Employs a Speech Pathologist
The Catherine Sullivan Centre in Strathfield NSW, which helps children with hearing-impairments get ready for life and schooling, received a grant for $9,500 in 2011.
The grant assisted the centre in hiring a speech pathologist to work part time and help foster the childrens speech training more closely. Claire Hopley, Coordinator at the Centre said “That’s why this grant is so vital, it allows us to offer something extra”.
The Grant Enabled the Centre to:
- Create additional sessions for every child
- Increase home visits
- Develop the intensive language group
- Focus on essential skills for school and life
Bigger than Ever
The Commonwealth Bank’s 10,000 Staff Community Fund members have their donations matched dollar for dollar by the bank. This year we have a record $2 million available to support charities that focus on the health and wellbeing of young Australians. You can see where we’ve donated money since 2007 with this interesting infographic.
Giving Since 1917
The Staff Community Fund has a long and proud history dating back to 1917, when it was established by staff to provide cots for infants orphaned in WWI. It has since evolved and now provides funding for a range of organisations that support the health and wellbeing of children.
