It was a big week for us here at Team NetBank.
We are busily working away at some of the changes we have coming up in our next release but we have just got some great news.
Simple balance
Firstly the simple balance we introduced in Kaching last month picked up a, ‘best of the web’ award. It did this because now to check the balance of your favourite account all you need to do is fire up Kaching, drag your figure down (just like in facebook) and then, voila your balance appears magically.
The reason we can do this is simple. Kaching is super secure. We have made it so you can only run Kaching on one phone at a time. So if you lose your phone – boom – we can immediately stop Kaching access (of course you may need to borrow a phone to call us). Plus we have our 100 per cent security gurantee so it hurts us more than it hurts you. Of course you don’t need to use the feature but it’s there if you want it. Plus interestingly, people are using our ATM’s less because you can now just use your phone to check your balances simply.
Log out button
One question we get asked a lot is, “where is the logout button on Kaching?”. It seemed a good idea at the time but you don’t need to logout of Kaching. Every time you close it down it auto logs out. We have received a lot of feedback from some customers who want to press a log out button and others who don’t want to logout at all. We will think about that for future releases.
A lot of people ask me why don’t we send an SMS or a message whenever you balance changes. We could do this but I reckon Kaching does it better. Simple balance, four digit password and in 10 seconds you have it all at your fingertips… plus more.
Real time banking
Now we have real time banking I find it really useful to see when my pay arrives, dividends get paid or the leader of the opposition (aka my wife Julie) is hammering the bank account.
We didn’t make a song and dance about simple balance when we put it out but it certainly has got our customers attention. Interestingly when we first mentioned this feature a few nervous nellies in the bank didn’t like it. I’m glad we put it out there.
The best news about this award was because the nomination came from a customer (not an enthusiastic staff member), which I reckon is better than the award itself.
Innovation recognition
The other award we picked up was from Asian Banker, which we did nominate ourselves for. I really like this award as we picked it up for innovation, again for Kaching. The judges were blown away by all the stuff we have done with Kaching with our Paypass integration for shopping, facebook, mobile and email payments.
And Android
On every blog I am going to talk Android, because I know you are hanging out for Kaching. As an FYI, I have 3 droid phones at home and my family are also hanging out for Kaching. My daughter gave up waiting and installed it on her iPad and runs it at 2x resolution, ugly but effective. I am expecting us to kick off a staff pilot for Kaching in April and if it’s all good then we will launch it in the app store. (If any of our staff reading this are interested in taking part email us at RDSOnlineProjects@cba.com.au)
What would you like?
Which brings me to my blog question, after we release the android version would you like to run Kaching on multiple devices and manage them on NetBank?
