Nominations for the 2013 Australian of the Year Awards are now open.
The awards celebrate the contributions of everyday Australians, who are extra-ordinary in some way and we are proud to be the major sponsor. There are four categories including Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year, Young Australian of the Year and Australia’s Local Hero.
You can nominate someone who makes you feel proud to be an Australian before 31 August 2012. You can go onto the website or into any our branches to pick up a nomination form.
Heroes at our Flagship Branch
Earlier this month, our Queen Street Branch in Brisbane, hosted two very special guests, with 2012 Australian of the Year, Geoffrey Rush and Young Australian of the Year, Marita Cheng talking to our customers about what the award means to them.
Young Australian of the Year, Marita Cheng is an Engineering student who founded Robogals Global in 2008, as a response to the traditionally low levels of participation by women in science, engineering and technology. Robogals uses fun and educational activities to teach schoolgirls about engineering and the difference that engineers make to our lives.
Actor Geoffrey Rush took the opportunity to encourage people to think about nominating someone who inspires them for one of the 2013 Australian for the Year Awards.
