If your child’s school participates in our School Banking program and has a Youthsaver account, they could be the new Dollarmite alongside Cred, Pru, Spen, Addy and Pat the dog in Coinland!
But they’ll need to hurry because time is running out to enter our school banking competition …
High five
To enter, Dollarmite members needed to make five deposits into their Youthsaver account through their school between 16 April and 30 June, 2012. There are still a few weeks left to make those final deposits. Once 5 deposits are made, they need to submit their best savings tip in 25 words or less, and then they’ll be in with a chance to be the name and face of our new Dollarmite character for a whole year! There are also loads of other prizes for them, their family and their school.
Learning about money makes a difference
Research shows that teaching our kids good savings habits, means they are more likely to be financially secure when they are older. Who doesn’t want that for their kids? And the great news is that we’ve made it fun for children to learn how to make money work for them.
At the Dollarmites site they’ll find great tips on how they can save money faster as well as some brilliant games and downloads that take them on amazing journeys from outer space to magical kingdoms and teach them about how money works in the real world at the same time.
Mini savers
We asked three Dollarmites what they wanted to do with their savings?
Tara, 5, from Brisbane, said, “she’d hire a rocket ship to fly to the moon”.
Dylan 6, from Mudgee, said, “he’d go anywhere that his friends and he could ride on elephants”.
Daniel, 10, from Perth, said “he’d buy a mini Ferrari and drive it around every race track in the world”.
